Full Name: Bartholomew Henry "Barry" Allen First Appearance: Flash Comics #1 (January 1940) Race: Meta-Human Created By: Gardner Fox & Harry Lampert Born in the small Midwestern town of Fallvill, Iowa, Barry and his "stillborn" brother were born to Nora and Henry Allen. After being given to another family, the Thawnes, Barry grew up reading comics regarding his favorite hero of all, Jay Garrick as the Flash. Later on in life his mother was killed, and his father was accused of the murder, Barry sought out a life of justice to prove his father's innocence. He moved to Central City and began working for the Central City Police Department Scientific Detection Bureau. One evening during a storm, a streak of lightning shot through the window, shattering electrified chemicals all over Barry. Deciding to return home, he realized he had extreme super-human speed. The rest is history! I've developed a new love for the Flash just by watching the CW show and doing my own personal research. I do understand Barry Allen was shown first in October of 1956 and Jay Garrick was the one from the forties, but due to the fact Barry is more well known throughout the community I'm going to stick with him as the primary.
