Karia and Karma | Storytime! skin description

Welcome my friends! This is a skin of Karia, a beautiful girl from times long forgotten who saved her kingdom, the kingdom of Karr, from the dragons. This story is organic and unedited, so don't read if you are a sucker for Über-high quality books. Karia and Karma - Here be Dragons. I looked out of the window of my tiny room. Rain was falling gently onto the fields that stretched out as far as the eye could see. Today was as good of a day as any to flee from my home. My father, a superstitious man, believed that traveling in the rain would bring bad luck upon all future journeys. I was running away from him, for on my fifteenth birthday he was to give away my hand in marriage to a suitor whom I had never met, as was the custom in the kingdom of Karr. I had seen the man who my father had picked out for me only once, but I detested everything of him already. I would not stand for this, and thus, I was leaving forever. I bundled up all of what I needed into a large span of cotton, meant to be made into a new dress. Alika, the servant, agreed to her silence as long as I would pay her fifty coin from my father’s stash. I cautiously opened the door to my room, and slipped a small canvas bag to Alika. I then made my way to the door of the house, and slipped outside without a sound. The gentle splatter of rain soon filled my ears as I began to run, away from my troubles, away from my home. Three miles away, I found a field with a small abandoned house, perfect for sleeping out of the rain. I entered the house and soon the shores of sleep were upon me, and the rain let off, allowing for a restful night. The next morning, I was awoken by a ray of sunshine that found its way into the house. I exited and soon was on my way. I knew I had to get farther away so that my father would never find me. The rain had lt up, but the field was still wet and rubbed uncomfortably against my legs. I soon found a small forest, and entered, knowing it was probably the best place to hide from my father, who was probably out looking for me. I wandered among the trees, looking for a creek or a pond for water, when I felt a warm current of air and found that the dew which had been bothering me for a while had vanished. I stepped closer, curious. I found myself in a clearing among the trees, and I felt the warm current of air increase to waves of heat. I raised my hand to shelter myself, when a shadow filled the clearing.I looked up and saw my nightmares come alive. The kingdom of Karr was plagued by flying beasts who roamed the skies, burning the crops and carrying away the townspeople. Dragons. And here was one descending from the sky above me, with scales the color and texture of rock, and claws as sharp as a sword. I screamed, and the dragon focused on me with an eye the color of amber, and I found myself paralyzed, unable to get away. I screamed even louder, as the dragon landed in front of me, and then breathed a column of flame at the sky above. It loomed over me, and roared, a sound so loud and terrifying that I could swear the clouds themselves stopped moving. It began to lurch towards me, and I, still unable to move, could do nothing more than cry for help.Suddenly, a figure came out of the sky and landed in front of me. It appeared to be a girl, but she was as tall and strong as any of the men in our village. Huge dragons’ wings monopolized her back, and smoke rose from her hands. Her hair was the color of dragons’ scales, and her eyes glowed as if made of fire. She spoke in a series of roars and growls, similar to the sounds the dragon had made. The dragon averted its gaze from me and turned towards the dragon child, but she seemed unaffected from it’s paralyzing power. She advanced towards the dragon, and with a growl as long and as loud as my ears could handle, it flew off towards the sun. She then turned to me and spoke in the language of man, in a voice stronger and more defined than any I had ever seen before. “Karia,” she said, leaving me wondering how she knew my name, “You are in grave danger. You must come with me before it is too late.”I backed away, finding myself able to move again. “No,” I countered, surprised I had found the courage to speak, “I’m not going anywhere with you.” I then tried to run, but found I couldn’t. She had paralyzed me just as effectively as the dragon had. “Yes, you are, if you want to live.” Her eyes stopped glowing, leaving me with green eyes, the same shade as my own. “That dragon that just left? That was one of the smaller ones. Many more will soon follow if you don’t come with me.”“How do I know you aren’t just trying to trick me, she-demon?” I replied defiantly. “I am not a she-demon, I am a dragon child. And if you don’t believe me I can leave you here and let you become the next meal for one of the many dragons that will come after you.”I finally relented. I was probably going to die of thirst or hunger anyway, so I might as well go with her. If it turned out she wasn’t truthful, I would just die a little bit sooner. “Very well.” And she reached out her hand. I grabbed it and before I knew what was happening she began to beat her powerful wings and we were soaring across the sky faster than all the birds I had ever seen. I closed my eyes in fear, as we rose higher, and moved faster across the sky. When the sun began to set, she began to descend. We were above a mountain, far away from the flat open fields and small woods I had been in. She brought me to a small cave, and then rolled a huge boulder that was almost as large as herself over the exit. I could barely see, the only light coming from her eyes, which were still glowing slightly.“Who are you?” I asked, the question having been balancing on the tip of my tongue ever since I met her. “I am-” She then made a long growling noise that sounded like “Kaermah”“Karma?” I replied, my mind finding a word similar to her name.“You may call me that,” She said, and then shot a bolt of fire out of her mouth into a pile of wood I hadn’t seen before. The cave then filled with light, and I gasped, marveling at the space around me. She had filled the stone cavern with tables, and chairs. I saw a bed in one corner of the room, and even a closet with clothes in it! But the most astounding thing of all was the treasure. A mountain of gold and jewels was inside of an open chest, and I marveled at the sheer amount of it all. Karma noticed me staring, and then in the blink of an eye she was next to her chest, which was now closed. “Don’t even think about it,” she said, glancing at me sideways.“Don’t even think about what?” I said, confused. She sighed, “Nevermind what I just said. Now, you want to know why you are in danger?”I sighed. “Yes!” I cried, “I wish to know what is happening with me.”Karma walked over to me, and then began to speak, “The kingdom of Karr has been plagued by dragons for over two hundred years. Around the time the dragons entered Karr, a future seer made a prophecy, the exact words lost to time, of a child who ran away from their life, a child who would end the curse of the dragons. Once the dragons learned of this prophecy, they began to hunt for this child, as they believed it would be the end of all dragons. Occasionally they found a child who looked like they might be the person of the prophecy, and they would make them dragonkind, like me. Other times they would just kill the child, and carry away everyone in the village so there wouldn’t have to return in case another child was born there. “When you decided to run away from your home so you wouldn’t have to live your life with a man you detested, I realized you were the one. You had just run away from your intended life, turning you into the child of the prophecy. I began to follow you, but when I saw the dragon attack, I had to make myself shown. You should be safe as long as the dragons don’t find out where you are, because you could be the end of dragons, forever.”I had so many questions spinning around in my head at that moment, such as MADE you dragonkind? And Prophecies are real? But the one that came to the surface was, “What do you mean by I could end them forever?”“Because,” Karma began, “The one who ran away from their life has a power hidden inside of them. A power that will allow them to rid the world of dragons. It will activate on the night of the solstice eclipse, or in other words, tonight.”That was it. My vision began to tunnel and I felt weak. My world faded to a small circle, and then was gone. I came to lying on Karma’s bed, with Karma herself standing over me. “Good, you’re awake.” She said, her amber eyes lighting up.“What happened?” I asked, before it all came rushing back to me. “Oh.”“Yes.”“Wh-What do I do now? If the solstice eclipse is tonight, then I will most likely die!” I cried, allowing the fear to seep into my voice. I was rather brave, by nature, but this was to much for one child from a small village, whose only wish in life was to not have to marry the man she hated most. “You can do it.” Karma wrapped an arm around me, awkwardly positioning herself so her wings didn’t bother me. “I believe in you, Karia.”She took me over to a cabinet, where she pulled out several outfits. “These were mine when I was younger. They should be able to fit you, if you’d like to wear something different.”I thanked her and took the clothes, and found a screen in which to dress behind. When I emerged from behind it, I was wearing a dark green satin dress that drew out my eyes, and tall black shoes with silver buttons. I had also found a silver pendant in the shape of the moon, which I had hung around my neck.“You look beautiful,” Karma said when she saw me. “Now, we need to leave. The eclipse has begun, and we only have an hour before it is over.” I nodded, and then asked, “If I truly do have the ability to rid the world of dragons, how will I know how to use it?”She paused for a moment. “Let’s just hope you do.” She rolled the boulder off the door, letting in the cold night air. She whispered, “This way,” and slipped outside, her giant wings hiding me from anyone or anything that might have been watching. I looked at the sky. The moon was almost in full shadow, only the slimmest glimmer remained in the sky. “I don’t feel any different,” I told Karma.“Just wait. I’ll get you up closer.” And before I could do anything, she grabbed me by the hand and launched into the air. She then let go of me, but before I could fall she swooped below me and let me land on her back. “Why did you do that?” I gasped, feeling my heart threatening to burst inside my chest. “You need exposure to the eclipse,” she responded simply, before gliding upwards.Suddenly, I heard a roar in the distance. I looked eastward and saw hundreds, if not thousands, of dragons flying towards us. “They found us,” Karma whispered, fear covering her features. I clutched the moon shaped pendant in my hand, scared out of my wits. The dragons soon were upon us, and they began to circle us, yet none of them attacked just yet. Karma made a series of low growls, and one of the largest dragons flew out of the circle, like a leader representing his people, coming closer to her. I looked up at the sky nervously. The eclipse was almost complete. Karma whispered to me, “I can’t delay them much longer. Hurry!” And then continued to talk with the dragon leader, increasing in volume. Suddenly, the shadow covering the moon exploded, and a bolt of moonlight shot down and surrounded me in it’s unearthly glow. I felt power flowing through me, and I suddenly felt able to do anything. Words came to my mouth, words I had never heard before in my life. “Dracones vade, tua est inutilis. Et ab alio transeat ex hoc mundo ad malum!” I chanted, confidence filling my soul. I heard roars of anger and fear, and right before my very eyes one of the dragons vanished, and more soon followed. In less than a minute, all of the dragons were gone, and it was just me, standing on Karma’s back. “You did it!” Karma cheered, gliding downwards. “I cannot believe I actually did it.” I said, in shock. Then a question came to mind, “If you are a dragon child, why did you want to be rid of dragons?”She smiled at me. “Because I was not born a dragon child. When I was younger I looked like I might be the child of the prophecy, and they took me and turned me dragonkind. But now that they are gone, I should be myself again.”Just as she finished talking, I gasped, because her wings had vanished. Suddenly, she began shrinking until she was only a little bit taller than me. Her rock colored hair turned the same shade of brown as mine, and her eyes shifted through the rainbow until they settled on green.I looked at her amazed. “Who are you?” I finally asked, staring at her new appearance.“I’m your older sister, Karia,” she said, and memories came flooding back. Memories of Karma playing with me when I was three years old, memories of Karma helping me walk. I ran over and hugged Karma, my long lost sister. The end!Bonus! Karma skinKarmaBonus!
