Maiko

Maiko skin description

This represents a a geiko apprentice who has just become a Maiko (similar to a Geisha). Maikos wear a special kimono called a hikizuri which are usually 200 centimeters. It's designed this way so it can trail beautifully on the floor though it was to be tied up when outside. They age from 15 to 20, and once the become a Maiko, they receive two kanzashi. Their jobs consists of performing dances, songs and the shamisen or the koto (traditional Japanese instruments). This particular skin only has only has one kanzashi. The long cloth tied behind her is called an obi and is strictly worn by Maikos only. Obis are 6-7 meters long and are extremely heavy requiring help from a male to tie on. A/N Sorry for the late entry, aha. I just joined this community and I saw this contest and was instantly interested. Little did I know, the deadline was 12:00 PM EST meaning 9:00 AM for me. I managed to get three hours of work last night (11:00 to 2:00), slept for five hours and worked on it again for an hour and a half. Sorry again!
