Shades are repulsive creatures that feed off of suffering. They reside in the Void, a purgatory between the Nether and the Overworld. It is believed they were once mages who became tainted in a failed ritual, forever doomed to wander the dark abyss as transient husks, constantly searching for the humanity that was ripped from their bodies.
