Once one of the most powerful Green Lanterns in the universe, Thaal Sinestro's fall from grace was slow, and deliberate. Sinestro's protection of his home planet of Korugar slowly became more and more oppressive, until he was no more than a dictator. Now ruling his own people, Sinestro realized they had grown to resent him and his rule. He realized the only way to protect his people was to rule with an iron fist. Dissent would not be an option. But then, Sinestro was dishonourably discharged from the Green Lantern Corps for his violent and oppressive ways. In Sinestro's exile, he was gifted a yellow power ring. Whereas the Green Lantern rings functioned on willpower, the yellow power ring garnered it's power through fear. And thus, the Yellow Lantern Corps, or the Sinestro Corps was founded. Ruling through fear, Sinestro maintains his oppressive regime on Korugar. An enemy of the Green Lanterns, he constantly fights with Hal Jordan and the rest of the Green Lantern Corps. Sinestro is an extremely high powered being, on par with the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman. Super strength, speed, and durability are all powers he possesses. In addition, he has all the abilities granted by his ring- knowledge, limited precognition, and the ability to create yellow energy constructs. Sinestro is also a master strategist, and is extremely intelligent. "Labeled the first renegade of the Green Lantern Corps, I was banished to the underbelly of the universe, the Antimatter Universe.. and delivered back into darkness. For the first time in my life -- I felt fear. And I was blinded by its brilliance.
