Stone crumbling beneath Our feet, where the Temple once stood; weathered ruins in place of the Shrines; the Twin Moons, shattered and broken. Instead of the Great One's voice, who once spoke to Us and the Thirteen Seers of Zul'Tir.. deafening silence. We thought that We had seen the truth, but We were blind, and now only We remain, as the sole reminder of Our people's terrible fate to the galaxy. The unbelievers had come seeking peace and friendship; We spoke to the Great One, and foresaw death and destruction. The Seers stepped forth and made it known to Our people - there can be no peace, no understanding with the heathens who refuse to hear the Word of the Great One. Instead they must be purged from the galaxy - such is the will of the Great One, to whom We give praise and to whom Our people had dedicated the Shrines, so that the Twin Moons would shine forever. We performed the ritual once again, and foresaw the Great One's chosen shall prevail in this terrible crusade. We were so blind, and now only We remain. So the Seven Hundred Thousand rose, the faithful soldiers of the Great One and Zul'Tir! The galaxy trembled at the passing of our battleships, our crystal cannons gleaming under the sun as we struck at the very heart of heresy, the unbeliever home world. Their cities burned and their mothers grieved.. but We were too blind to see, and now only We remain. We had underestimated our enemy, we thought them so weak and fragile! The children of Terra answered their Mother's call and the Seven Hundred Thousand faced the full power of the Terran hive worlds and colonies. We had believed that the Seven Hundred were unbeatable in their battle fervor.. but in a single cycle, of the Seven Hundred Thousand became One. The Terrans had then, in a cruel twist of fate, purged our very home world - in the name of freedom and justice, every single Zul'Tirean was put to the sword but Us, who escaped. These Terrans had been the foreseen death and destruction indeed; they had won the Great One's favor by cleansing His former servants. On the forsaken planet of Zul'Tir, there are no more Seers.. no more Seers but Us. ______________________________________________ Here's my contest entry for the Aliens skin contest, using a highly experimental palette with a hue shifting technique previously unknown to me.
